The launch of the First Stone 2016/2022 book was held on 17 January during the finissage of the exhibition with the same title, on display at the National Coach Museum since 23 June 2022. It was an emotional ending for this innovative programme that, for the last 6 years, has worked the Portuguese stone, bringing together economy and culture, and involving the participation of more than 1000 people coming from the most diverse activity sectors, as well as countries.
This celebration counted with the presence and speeches of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the Minister of Culture, Pedro Adão e Silva, who highlighted the importance of programmes such as First Stone, which promote national cultural production, and its visibility and expansion at an international level. It also counted with the presence of several Ambassadors of countries represented in Portugal, various businessmen and businesswomen from the 28 companies involved, as well as authors and other partners.
The 405 pages of First Stone 2016/2022 document the six years of the programme, presenting itself as a valuable means of research, knowledge and reference. It contains all the constituent elements of the programme, introducing the main actions and events, the permanent installations, as well as each participant and their respective projects, as well as countless data on Portuguese stone, and is illustrated with various photographs taken over the years.
