Lore

Bijoy Jain

Bijoy Jain joined the group of architects invited for Resistance in Venice during its final phase. Therefore, his project is still in a stage of conceptual development. At the moment he is working on the idea of Lore, which has two meanings:
LORE
n.
A body of traditions and knowledge on a subject or held by a particular group, typically passed from person to person by word of mouth.
n.
The space between the eye and the base of the bill of a bird or between the eye and nostril of a snake.

His participation in the exhibition is presented through a selection of images that depict the foundations of the path he is developing for this project.

Lore, by Bijoy Jain

We are invested in the inquiry of rudimentary and elemental; not out of nostalgia or romanticism but out of technological and scientific interest. Lores are what allow rediscovery of appropriate technology through a rather non-linear narrative. These serendipitous discoveries are imperative in the world that is constantly changing. Lore carries tacit knowledge through past, present and future – answers to each time lie in its appropriation.

Most importantly, it is intuitive and rational; subjective and objective at the same time – essential to both survival and nourishment of mankind.
